Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 Tbso Italian seasoning
  • 1 can 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 can 28 oz. whole or diced tomatoes
  • 1 carton 22 oz. cottage cheese
  • 1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz. shredded Mozzarella
  • 8 oz. shredded Provolone
  • 9 cooked lasagna noodles

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°.
  • Prepare your lasagna noodles according to the package directions to al dente. Drain and rinse the noodles under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, in a deep skillet, brown the beef and pork together for 4-5 minutes. Add the garlic salt, Italian seasoning, tomato paste and tomatoes and using a fork, crush the tomatoes until there are only small chunks left. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until the mixture is the consistency of spaghetti sauce.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the cottage cheese and 1/2 cup Parmesan.
  • In a greased 9"x13" pan, layer 1/4 of the meat mixture, 3 noodles, 1 heaping cup cottage cheese and 1 cup Mozzarella. Repeat this process two more times. Top with the remaining meat mixture, remaining 1/2 c. Parmesan and the shredded Provolone cheese.
  • Bake at 350° uncovered for 45 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
